There’s nothing worse than getting a piece of writing where AI has clearly drafted it. It will be full of empty phrases and detached language.
For the best results, do your own first draft. Then ask for AI’s help. The AI help could be through ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude or whichever your preferred one it. If you don’t have one, try out with Copilot, as that is the UN authorized one.
The clearer and more detailed your prompt, the better the results will be. The more it knows about you and your style, the better the results will be too, so keep using it and keep refining your requests.
Example prompt: “Here’s my email / message / report. Don’t rewrite it. Help me make the purpose clear. Read it as a thoughtful editor and tell me what’s weak, what’s unclear, where a reader would lose interest or get confused. Give me honest, clear feedback.”
Don’t forget to attach the draft.
This prompt will stop it from simply making your writing sound the same as other AI writing. Secondly, it will stop flattering you and instead tell you bluntly where it’s boring, vague or structurally unsound.
Then you can also ask it to “identify any grammar or vocabulary errors and suggest a correction” if you are a non-native English writer.
Good luck and do try it out!
